The Cooling Coaster set and tray was a personal gift for my Dad. Going into the ME103: Design and Making course I knew that I wanted to make something for him as the quarter ended around his birthday. My Dad has a number of his own sketches and drawings saved from the past, including a this logo from when he and his brother used to make surfboards.

To get the “cooling effect” you place the coasters in the freezer prior to use and the high thermal conductivity of the aluminum conducts heat from the glass to keep your drink cool.
